2024 Qatar Qualifying Results

After the F1 Sprint and McLaren’s impressive 1-2 finish, with Norris returning the favor to Piastri, the teams hit the track again, determined to set their best times. The 2024 Qatar Qualifying Results are in, and we’ve seen some truly interesting outcomes.

The grid saw the usual eliminations in Q1, unexpected surprises in Q2, and the championship’s outcome could hinge on Q3 results.

Q1

Ocon (20th), Colapinto (19th), Lawson (17th), and Hulkenberg (18th) didn’t make it past Q1. While Williams’ results were expected due to their car’s limitations, Lawson and Ocon underperformed, especially considering their teammates’ stronger showings.

In a rare turn of events, Hulkenberg, who had been delivering an excellent weekend for Haas, couldn’t maintain his streak and also exited in Q1.

Q2

The usual midfield F1 teams—Aston Martin, Alpine, and Red Bull—featured in Q2, but the standout performance came from Kick Sauber. Zhou (12th) and Bottas (13th) pushed their cars to the limit, achieving their best F1 result of the year.

This performance is a fitting farewell for the team this Formula 1 season and could mark an emotional goodbye for their drivers if they capitalize during the race tomorrow.

The remaining F1 drivers who didn’t make it past Q2 were Pierre Gasly (11th), Yuki Tsunoda (14th), and Lance Stroll (15th).

Q3

Max Verstappen, fueled by his fourth F1 Drivers’ Championship, claimed pole position, beating George Russell (2nd) by just 0.055 seconds. The Briton continues to impress with his strong end-of-season form.

The McLaren vs. Ferrari battle for top honors in the F1 Team Standings could reach its climax tomorrow, as both McLarens qualified ahead of their Ferrari rivals.

Kevin Magnussen secured 10th place, a respectable performance for Haas, while Sergio Pérez finally made it to Q3—his first since Baku two months ago.
