It’s been a week since Sir Lewis Hamilton first got behind the wheel of a Ferrari F1 car. Now, the latest F1 news reports that Hamilton crashes Ferrari F1 car.
The legendary Italian Scuderia has been conducting private tests at the official Barcelona GP track, taking advantage of better weather conditions than those in Fiorano last week. Both drivers carried out tests with the SF-23, the car used during the 2023 season.
During the second day of a three-day testing period, Hamilton lost control of the car and crashed into the track barriers. The impact caused damage to the car’s suspension and some aerodynamic bodywork parts.
Since the test is private, it’s difficult to obtain further details about the crash. Notably, one of the best F1 drivers on the grid walked away unscathed from the incident.
The crash forced Charles Leclerc to miss his testing session as the car is currently under repair.
Let’s remember that teams are allowed to experiment with cars that are two years old or more. Additionally, they can cover no more than 1,000 km.
Next Week
A key advantage for the legendary F1 team is that next week, the drivers will get back into an F1 car. Ferrari and McLaren have been selected to conduct Pirelli tire tests. This time, they will use the car from the previous Formula One season.
Lewis and Charles will have another opportunity to collect valuable data for vehicle development and driving improvements. These are ideal scenarios to prepare in the best possible way for the 2025 F1 season.
We’re still waiting for all Formula One teams to begin preseason testing, which will take place in Bahrain.
