History of the F1 Miami GP
The Miami International Autodrome made its Formula 1 debut in May 2022, introducing a dynamic and unique temporary circuit designed to feel permanent. Nestled within the Hard Rock Stadium complex in Miami Gardens—home of the iconic NFL team, the Miami Dolphins—the track stands out as a masterpiece of modern circuit design. After evaluating 36 potential layouts, a final 19-turn configuration was chosen, blending the excitement of a street circuit with the sophistication of a permanent venue, similar in vibe to Melbourne’s Albert Park.
The inaugural Miami Grand Prix took place in 2022, marking Florida’s addition to the F1 calendar. Alongside Austin’s race in Texas, Miami became the second U.S. stop in the championship and the 11th American venue to host a round of the Formula 1 World Championship.

A thrilling street circuit centered around the iconic Hard Rock Stadium, the 5.41km Miami International Autodrome delivers high-speed action with 19 corners, three straights, and three DRS zones, allowing top speeds to exceed 340km/h. The track features unique elevation changes, particularly between Turns 13 and 16, where it crosses an exit ramp and navigates under flyovers across uneven terrain. One of the standout sections is the Turn 14-15 chicane, which presents an uphill approach, a crest at its peak, and a challenging downhill exit.
