History of the F1 Qatar GP

The Lusail International Circuit, situated just outside Doha, Qatar’s capital, was originally constructed in preparation for the country’s inaugural MotoGP event in 2004. Impressively, the circuit was completed in just over a year.

Qatar made its Formula 1 debut in the 2021 season, hosting its first-ever FIA Formula One World Championship race. Following this milestone, the country secured a 10-year contract to host Formula 1 events starting from the 2023 season.
